CAFOD have teamed up with Bob Geldof, well known activist and sweary-man, to expand their range of virtual Christmas World Gifts.
The new ‘Feed the World-Gifts’ are based on Band Aid’s ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas?’ written by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure. They will transform the lives of poor people throughout the world, it is hoped.
One can buy the gift of ‘Snow in Africa’ – a snip at £1,200 – to give people underneath that burning sun the magical experience of a white Christmas, even if they aren’t aware of the season.
For £32 donors can finally ‘Let in Light and Banish Shade‘ or perhaps ensuring that they do know it’s Christmas time with handy Liturgical Calendar booklets. One can buy a world to hang outside your window or some decorative clanging chimes of doom.
We are also being encouraged to ‘say a prayer. Pray for the other ones’ and CAFOD have produced seven prayer cards to aid us in this. A statement on their website says ‘We thought about encouraging people to ‘thank God it’s them instead of you’ but somehow that didn’t quite seem right.
